Cupid and those arrows of his

With February being upon us, the month of love, and the infamous Valentines Day in the near future, I have been anxiously awaiting my first V-day with my sweet husband. I know, I know, many of you are convinced that this so called day of affection was created by card and candy companies.. and I can see your point. However, I am a full blown romantic and I believe that it is an age old tradition to forget about all the worries and strife in the world and bask in the glory of love! Amen! Anyways, me being the dork that i am, I decided to do some research on Valentines, Cupid, and all that implies. I think you might find some of this to be interesting.

1. In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.

2.85% of Women secretly buy Valentines for themselves.

3.Richard Cadbury invented the first Valentines Day candy box in the late 1800s.

4.The oldest surviving love poem till date is written in a clay tablet from the times of the Sumerians, inventors of writing, around 3500 B.C

5. Worldwide, over 50 million roses are given for Valentine's Day each year.

6. Cupid ,the Roman God of Love, is responsible for coupling lovers by shooting darts of desire to both men and women.

(Wow! Interesting stuff right) Well, whether you believe all of that jazz or not, it is nice to imagine that somewhere, somehow, SOMEONE is out there that you are destined to be with. Luckily, I have have found my someone else, my other half, my best friend. I count my blessings everyday starting with Cody. I could go on and on, but I won't. I will just say that I don't know if Cupid's arrows are responsible for my love and desire..., however, it is a nice thought to have on one day of the year. Whether you are single, dating, or married, Happy Valentines Day and watch out for those arrows. ♥
